We’re thrilled to kick off the new year with an update that goes beyond just revealing the location and date for Devcon 7. This year, we are expanding our vision by embracing the entire Southeast Asia region as the backdrop for our community gathering! Why? Read on to find out!
First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude for your patience amidst all the speculation and excitement about our next destination. Following a memorable time in Bogotá for Devcon VI, we have decided to schedule Devcon 7 for 2024. The main reason behind this decision is our desire to enhance Devcon’s impact on regional Ethereum communities. The additional time allows us to more fully engage with these local communities, offering support and empowerment in a more meaningful way.
We are now committed to making Devcon 7 a more inclusive and regionally focused event, and to reflect this vision, we will call it “Devcon Southeast Asia” instead of naming it after the host city.
With this new vision in mind, let’s delve into the exciting details!

We are excited to announce that Devcon 7 will take place from November 12-15 in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand 🥳🎉, with a spirit that will resonate across Southeast Asia in the coming year.

The Ethereum community in Southeast Asia holds significant potential, as evidenced by its rapidly growing crypto adoption. Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand are leading in the Global Crypto Adoption Index, highlighting the region’s pivotal role in the global Ethereum landscape.
Southeast Asia is a melting pot of diverse cultures, rich histories, and communities, and our intention is to encompass the entire Southeast Asia in the Devcon experience. From the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur to the scenic beauty of Bali, from the technological hub of Singapore to the historical charm of Vietnam, this region is pulsating with energy. Bangkok, with its unique blend of tradition and modernity, is an ideal location in terms of both venue suitability and global accessibility.
🛤 The Road to Devcon: Our journey so far 🛤
In recent months, we have launched the Road To Devcon (RTD) Grants round. This initiative stems from our commitment to support the rise of new Ethereum events, grassroots communities, and educational endeavors across Southeast Asia. We are pleased to see the enthusiasm and innovative proposals pouring in from Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other nearby Southeast Asian countries.
A big shout-out to everyone we have supported so far! Your projects and efforts have been shaping the Ethereum community’s journey in Southeast Asia. For those in Southeast Asia with community-driven aspirations, we encourage you to apply for a small sponsorship and contribute to shaping the ecosystem.
At its core, what makes Devcon special is our diverse and ever-evolving community. As we focus on Devcon 7, we are seeking ongoing community involvement. From SEA to every corner of the globe, we want to hear from you.
